Post six: Rhetorical Strategies in Boyds Essay

In Boyd's essay the readers are discovering their detective side that writing brings out. What I get from her essay is the use of different tones people have in their essays and how it is important as long as your getting the message across. Boyd just wants the writer to expand their thinking and writing strategies. She also makes good point regarding on how different situations call for different solutions, which can be inferred by this statement, "The losing argument is a good example of how the different rhetorical tools available carry different weight given the rhetorical situation." Boyd makes very good points in her essay and all her examples.

post five: my organizational strategy

My main strategy in this essay was description. My major is education, so in my essay I describe why education would be a good choice. Then I list and go into details why it's a great option to consider. My research also is a big component to my strategy as well. My research helps me get examples and more information to be more disruptive. The discretion strategy is very useful for this particular essay because you're trying to convince your readers to choose the major, and what better way to do that than going into details about all the benefits of whichever major you have chosen. I also kinda do my own thing of getting all my ideas down then organizing them after all my ideas are written down. Although organizing the information isn't my strong suit.

Post four: Rhetorical Context

In Carrolls essay “Backpacks vs. Briefcases”, she talks about analyzing what's in front of you and running with it, along with other things. The statement “Instead, you quickly took in the information and made an informed, and likely somewhat accurate, decision about that person.” (Carroll 46). This quote summed up is saying, you took in what someone looked like or what the outside looks like and you made a judgement. Which is basically analyzing a situation. This is what we will be doing for doc2, analyzing the essays and making a decision about them. I want my readers to read my essay and choose to make a decision of choosing education as their major.

Post 3: Outside Sources

Using outside sources is important because you obtain more knowledge about what you're writing and you can inform your readers with more facts. An academic writing is all about information writing with research done. Outside sources including online articles, documents, and books, are research martials. Mike Bunn is a great example of using outside sources in academic writing, or why they're important to use. He has information you can trust and cites them. While writing you learn to research and use outside sources will become highly important. You can grasp what you’re writing about and as i said before you learn more. In my essay I am writing about procrastination and I have learned many things that I didn't know before just by looking at some reliable sources. Lastly, outside sources help prove yourself. In my essay I talk about how my biggest downfall is the lack of understanding the assignments. The two websites I have used so far mention how lack of understanding is...

Post 2: My Rhetorical Situation

In my Doc 1, I am going to be talking about procrastination. The reason I choose to write about this is because it is the problem I deal with the most when it comes to writing or any school work for that matter. Procrastination is also something I know fellow friends/classmates deal with. The communication triangle breakdown of this essay begins with me, the writer, who will be using outside sources and my own experiences to write about procrastination. The readers will be my peers, who will read this essay and hopefully learn how they can overcome their own procrastination issues, if they have any. My subject is procrastination, explaining what it is, how it's caused, and ways to resolve it. Lastly, tying the whole triangle together, the text and model. The text and model will be articles I found on trusting websites and personal experiences. This will conclude my essay.
